Sonbhadra: Sonbhadra, the meeting of the Project Head (Rihand) with the media representatives under the aegis of Project Management was held in a joyful atmosphere at Shivalik Guest House in NTPC’s Rihand Project on Wednesday. In this event, the Project Head (Rihand) Shri Pankaj Mediratta, while answering the questions asked by the media representatives very easily, said that the employees and officers of Rihand station have the capability to accept the challenge even in the most adverse conditions.
He also said that NTPC Rihand is at the third position among all NTPC thermal stations / projects in operational performance with 88.69% PLF. This achievement reflects the exceptional operational efficiency of the station / projects and its unwavering commitment to excellence in power generation. Further, NTPC Rihand has secured 2nd position in the Performance Evaluation Matrix Ranking for FY 2023-24, which highlights its strong performance and dedication to maintain high standards at NTPC.
Apart from its operational achievements, NTPC-Rihand has made significant contribution to social welfare under its Corporate Social Responsibility by providing education to 600 girl children through GEM programme in the last five years. Out of these, 50 girl children have been admitted to DAV School in the township and are being provided free education. This initiative not only empowers these girl children but also makes people aware about education which helps them to achieve their goals.
NTPC’s commitment to community development is further evident from the investment of ₹4.98 crore in Khanta Picnic Spot, thereby enhancing recreational and tourism opportunities for locals and visitors.
NTPC Rihand’s “Ek Din Samaj Ke Liye” programme aims to promote community welfare through various initiatives that engage participants in activities that address social challenges. The programme promotes volunteerism and collaboration, brings about positive change and enhances the quality of life of people. In addition, NTPC is setting up a de-addiction centre at Chopan with an investment of ₹3.08 crore, which will help people in de-addiction.
In addition, NTPC Rihand has planned solar power addition of 20 MW for the coming year, taking the total generation capacity to 3,020 MW.

Thereafter, Senior Manager (P&S) Shri K Karthik and Executive (Corporate Social Responsibility) Ms Nargis gave information about the efficiency and achievements of NTPC Rihand through a power point presentation.
Mainly media representatives from Sonbhadra district’s headquarters Rawatsganj, Renukoot, Bijpur, Anpara, Singrauli and Vaidhan etc., Chief General Manager (Project) Shri Debdatta Sinha, Additional General Manager (Human Resources) Shri Brij Kishore Pandey, Deputy General Manager (Human Resources) Shri Santosh Kumar Upadhyay, Deputy General Manager (EMG) Shri Raghavendra Narayan etc were present in the program.
